Peaking Stocks
Topic: Recommendations
Recently, I made the mistake of buying a sotck at its 6 month peak. The day after I bought 25 shares in it, it dropped $1, and I lost 25. It continued to drop for a few more days, until my total losses were at over $150. My advice to you: observe the peaks, even if it means you wait a month or more to purchase. It just could save you $100 or more!

Dividend Stock
Topic: Things to invest in

For those of us who are scared to lose $100 or more in a day, dividend stocks are one of the ways to go.

Thay usually are less expensive and more stable than larger stocks, but do not grow as much. instead, they ofer larger quarterly payments to shareholders (I have seen $1.40+ per share) which means that if you hold onto them, they can bring in a hefty profit which you can invest in either more stock, or just liquid assets. In fact, this is my favorite way of investing!

ALJ (Alon USA Energy)
Topic: Things to invest in

Recently, while surfing through ETrade, looking for some good stocks, I noticed that the energy sector was way up. Upon closer investigation, I found a few companies who were doing exceedingly well in various energy categories. I compared these stocks, and the leader was (drum roll)...ALJ

ALJ has been doing exceptionally well, and had gone up $10 a share in less than 6 months. Then suddenly, not too long ago, they had a small oil spill (their first in a while) and there stock dropped a few dollars. I saw the perfect opportunity to invest, and hopped in. In only a few days, I made $100 off a $4k investment. They also give a 16 cent dividend, so even if they do go down a bit, you will make some hefty interest from each approx. $40 share.

How to post here
Topic: Posting freedom
I have recently figured out how to allow others to post on my blog. You will need a tripod account, and then you will need to email me with the account name (todd101scout@gmail.com) and let me know you want in. I will add you to the list, and whenever you log in, you will be able to post.

E*Trade
Topic: Places to invest
E*Trade is one of many investing websites and companies you can go to to get your money into the stock market with as little hassle as possible. So what makes it so special? Well, E*Trade not only gives you a good intrest rate on any money not in the market that you have with them, bu they also give you free access to many useful tools, such as a risk analyzer. They also have a great setup for researching stocks, and allow you to trade commodities. They have a wide variety of accounts, and you get free checking for easy withdraws. It is a pleasure to use, for sure! Let me know if you have any other thoughts or comments about ETrade!

Index Stocks
Topic: Ways to invest
index stocks are stocks that are companies that just, well, buy and sell certain stocks of their chosing. They ARE companies, but all they do is self-buy and sell stocks. I would definitely recommend an index stock as one of your first investments, but research the one you plan to invest in a bit first. Find one with a good manager and good solid performance. While having some risk involved, index stocks tend to be much more stable than sotcks (but often having a lower profit). So, for a safer investment than stocks, check out index stocks!

Magazines
Topic: Recommendations

I just had to include this. After all, I have read so many success stories and how "19 minutes a day" or "$1,000 a week' can make you a millionare, that I just had to point out some deent, trustable finincial magazines so that you know whether it is true or not. Forbes and Kiplingers are the only two that I read, but there are a few others out there too. Remember that you can email me at any time (todd101scout@gmail.com) to suggest I ad, edit, or include something.
